Travel: Staniel Cay, Bahamas

Traveling to adventurous and exotic destinations has become one of my favorite hobbies. So if you are like me, you will definitely LOVE Staniel Cay! A few months ago, one of my close friends from college told me all about her trip to Staniel Cay and after I saw all her amazing pictures, I knew I had to go.

Fun fact: The Timber music video by Pitbull Ft. Kesha was filmed in Staniel Cay.


Staniel Cay is located in one of the Exumas islands of the Bahamas, about a 30 minute flight from Nassau. It is a very small island, therefore the amount of activities in the island are limited but the breathtaking views never get old. Staniel Cay is definitely the perfect destination to get away, relax and enjoy crystal clear private beaches. To better explore the area, the best thing to do is take a private boat tour to check out the surrounding islands and do the following things:

Visit the famous “Swimming Pigs”
Swim with nurse sharks in Compass Cay
Swim with nurse sharks in Compass Cay
Visit one of the iguana islands
Snorkel by the sunken plan
Snorkel the “Aquarium” in the Exuma Land and Sea Park

Hang out on a beautiful sand bar

Small hike to enjoy Rachel’s Bubble Bath
Relax and enjoy the view

Getting to Staniel Cay is a little tricky, so here are a few tips:
From Nassau – Flamingo Air
From Fort Lauderdale – Watermakers Air
