HTX Spots: Houston Polo Club

What is the first thing you think about when you hear the word polo? . . . Is it Ralph Lauren? It sure is what I think about, but did you know you can actually attend a polo matches here in Houston!

The Houston Polo Club  is located just minutes from The Galleria, right by Memorial Park. The club is situated on twnty six beautifully landscaped and wooded acres. Polo tournaments are played throughout the spring and fall seasons, with final matches available to the public on Sunday afternoons.

Sunday Polo is held at the Houston Polo Club on the Farish Field. Polo begins promptly as scheduled and the matches last approximately 1.5 – 2 hours.

Milagro Margaritas are amazing!

During half-time, everyone is invited onto the field to step on and cover the holes made in the grass during the match. This helps prevent the horses from hurting themselves in the second half.

The best part is that you can enjoy some champagne on the field!

You can also check out the sports cars on display nearby; or the little ones can hit balls just like the polo players.

This past Sunday they had the Hendrick’s Gin Cup.

Each year, the Houston Polo Club presents an annual magazine, highlighting the polo club, the players, the spectators and the sport of polo.
