Texas-Cali duo, Daniel and Amalia, had a vision to bring gourmet hot dogs to Houston. They started the Good Dog concept in the form of a food truck and grew to two brick & mortar locations (Montrose and Heights) in short four years.
Daniel prides in sourcing all local ingredients and serving house-made condiments, yes, every sauce they have!
Last week, owner Daniel welcomed us to their newest location in Montrose (1312 West Alabama Street), across the University of St. Thomas, to sample some of Good Dog’s tasty favorites! Needless to say, we were blown away by the food and the shakes.

Chillin’ Dog : Beef & Chorizo Chili, Pickled Jalapeños, Diced Onions, Short Bus Mustard
Chi-Town: Fresh Tomato Sices, Dill Pickle Slices, Short Bus Mustard, Sweet Blakeslee Relish, Pickled Fresno Peppers & Celery Salt served on Poppy Seed Bun
Harvest Hash Dog: Chorizo & Egg, Seasonal Hash, House Hot Sauce, Mayo & Fried sage (Dog of the day, not available on everyday menu)
If you are like me and can’t get enough of these dogs, Good Dog’s condiments and franks are available to purchase for you to create your own at home!
Fun Fact: Good Dog’s logo is the silhouette of owner Daniel’s dachshund!

Fun Fact: Dorina is a University of St Thomas alumni… so if you currently attend UST, show your ID and receive 10% off you meal purchase! A Little secret to current Celts, from a former Celt. 😉
Now let’s get to these shakes. Seriously the best shakes we had in awhile! It is SO good, you have to order the Cajeta & Caphin one. You won’t regret it, every calorie is worth it.

The Montrose Good Dog has plenty of patio seating and great place to bring your family. They also have a plethora of draft beers to go with those delicious hot dogs.
We hope you plan a visit to Good Dog soon! Can’t wait for our next visit 🙂
Post in partnership with Good Dog, all opinions are our own.
Cheers,
