Last weekend some friends and I decided to step out of our comfort zone and tried a virtual escape room! We went to ExitusVR , which is the first and only virtual reality game place in Houston. 😉
I have NEVER been good at video games or anything “virtual” , but I must say it was quite fun to try a virtual team work game. So if I could do it, you can too! 🙂 It was challenging because you can’t physically do things, so you have to rely on verbal communication with your team. The only thing you can do is move your hands and arms to move around, find things and solve the mystery.
Our Experience:
Dorina: What you can see with the mask is super cool, because if you move your head around you see what would be around you in that room or setting. It was also fun to see your hands move and see your friend’s avatars moving around doing silly things. We certainly laughed a lot!
Pam: Virtual reality was a taste of awesomeness! What blowed my mind the most was how realistic our movements were like throwing a peace sign, to high five your partner. My favorite part was creating cubes with our hands and keeping them on the table. This game was so realistic I started to get dizzy as we were flying. Definitely will try this again!
Payton: It was awesome being able to experience virtual reality, as this new and emerging technology is not readily available to everyone quiet yet. Exitus VR was an easy, laid back place to learn about and play with VR games. The staff was helpful, often times giving us tips on how to play the game to ensure we made it to the final level. I would highly recommend it for a random thing to do with friends, or even as a team building event. Great experience!
Steps to enter this new dimension:
- Go to the room
- Sit on a chair
- Put on the mask
- Enter virtual reality
Pretty easy, ha?
