Nosh: Peli Peli

Last week we had the marvelous opportunity to try South African cuisine at Peli Peli in the Houston Galleria. We tried some exciting, new flavors that we absolutely LOVED!

Fun Fact: Peli (also known as Piri Piri or Peri Peri), which means Bird’s-Eye Chili, is a spice that was discovered by the Portuguese in the 15th Century on the plains of Southern Africa.

Neither of us had ever had South African cuisine before, so we had no idea what to expect. We came with an open mind and we were definitely surprised by the exhilarating combination of flavors.

Did you know that Peli Peli is the only South African fusion restaurant in Texas and one of the few restaurants in Houston to have at least 4-star ratings in every online food and drink website? If that is not a good sign to come check them out, I don’t know what kind of food you are into 😉

What is cool about Peli Peli, is that it has an avant-garde architecture, and a modern atmosphere. It also has spacious dining area, a Sunday brunch, full bar & lounge, a cozy, private dining room and an outdoor patio facing the Piazza and of course…. Oh, and an amazing Happy Hour menu!
